Teri was born in Denver, Colorado, and is the daughter of the founders of Harvesting In Spanish, Don and Rose Ann Benner. Teri lived and went to school as a child in El Salvador, and then got her degree in Christian Education from Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, California in 1988, with a minor in Youth Ministry. She also has an Associate’s Certificate in Senior Business Management from FEPADE (Fundación Empresarial para el Desarrollo Educativo) in El Salvador, and is working on an Associate Certificate in Exportations from ESEN (Escuela Superior de Negocios).

Teri speaks Spanish fluently and before moving back to El Salvador in 1994 to work full time with Harvesting In Spanish, she served as an interpreter for the Costa Mesa Police Department, Spanish professor, and Director of Student Ministries at Vanguard University. As Director of Student Ministries for 6 years, Teri was responsible for training and and overseeing over 400 students per year who were involved in urban city ministries and overseas missions. Teri lead teams to Japan, Brazil and Mexico and founded the “Hands Across the Border” ministry which took teams of 200 students at a time during Spring Break to minister in Baja California, Mexico. Teri was elected President and Chief Operations Officer of Harvesting In Spanish in February 2009 and currently oversees the financial and legal areas of the organization in the U.S., as well as the operations, administration, accounting, legal aspects and human resources of the local ministry in El Salvador. Teri is married to Osvaldo, and she enjoys reading, playing the piano, travelling, and their 4 labrador retrievers. |
