The Shalom Children’s Home and Amilat Christian School are located in the town of Santiago Texacuangos, right on the border of the next town called Santo Tomas, and together both towns add up to approximately 45,000 inhabitants, live in bamboo, mud-walled and tin shacks having dirt floors, and carry in their own water, and of course, don t eat very good.

The families living there in such squalid conditions are aided every way funds will permit, such as paying for the school of some of their kids to go to our school, providing emergency medical help, visiting the families to pray with them and learn of special needs, and keeping their houses from falling apart.

In 2005 the Oasis Feeding Program started, which is a ministry by the youth of the Shalom Children’s Home to this community. The cooks and youth at the Shalom Home prepare a hot lunch and take it over to Oasis 3 days a week. The Shalom youth serve the meal and a Bible program to anywhere from 50 to 100 children per visit.

Also, the Shalom Home picks up the families on Sundays to brings them to our Sunday School in the morning, and to church in the evening, and occasionally distributes groceries, shoes, or other needed items to the families
